Jamie Ivin Website Evaluation

I created a website to showcase me ‘Shock & Awe’ project work.

I made the website using Photoshop, Text Wrangler and Dreamweaver.

I used Photoshop to create all the images such as the buttons and background, and also used the slice tool to create the pieces of the background.

I used Text Wrangler to write most of the code for the website. I also used it to link me pages together.

I used Dreamweaver to tidy up the coding and change properties like the text colour, and for typing in my text.

I made an index Page – this page contains a welcome message and what the user can find on the other pages.

I also made a video page that I’m going to put the ‘Shock & Awe’ video on.

I made an information page to talk about the making of the video.

I also made a mobile version of the website so people on phone can knows it and the only different is that the font is smaller and the buttons are on top over each other.

I used HTL coding.

I was testing the website by going onto anther computer and try it out on Safari.

I think that the website went well, I was a bit slacking with putting something inside the website. I should bemired myself to do more of the witter work and coming up with website ideas.

3 website

Dean Forest Railway  http://www.deanforestrailway.co.uk
The purpose of this website is to advertise and inform about the railway.

It includes a drop down menu bar with categories like: about (station, train, history, future plans); your visit (what people can do and see, timetable, price and facilities, shopping/museums); events (upcoming events, regular event, booking events) and it also includes information for groups, ways to support the organisation, contact details, links and an online shop.

When you click on the links in the menu bar, it shows information in the main frame. You can click ‘home’ on this menu to go back to the page.  The home page shows the visitors a random picture of the railway every time they visit.

It also includes a short intro to the railway and upcoming events and current offers in the online shop and the railway.

The page is arranged in frames.

Top frame: Logo, attractive picture of forest and URL and menu bar (doesn’t change)

Left frame: Latest News article feed (doesn’t change)

Right frame: Links to the online shop, shopping basket, store help, newsletter sign up like (doesn’t change)

The page content appears in the middle when menu links are clicked.

The website is designed to have a theme, they use brown banners with white text as titles for the frames that don’t change and they use two different creamy brown colours as the background.

In the content pages they use dark green banners with white text as titles. The green colours have been chosen to go with the many green colours seen in the images of tree and trains on the website.

They are using an online shop and booking office provided by ‘Online Ticketing LTD’

In the source code, they have used HTML coding like:

META Tags – to describe content
Styles – to control colours
Scripts – for page size, menu bar
Frames/tables – for page layout

Facebook https://www.facebook.com

it used a complex coding for thing like ads, post and frames.

at the monition I'm in Glynis class doing an intreated piece about the history of the internet.
i have made a cheap visions but it very good the i can do the old coding like go to the frame and go to frame 11. the timeline is just an plan black line in the middle with lines coming out saying 1957 to 2012. i put picture of the internet explore, safari and www.
at first the title was history of the internet and then i thought, i might be fun to put it is www.history_of_the_internet.com but it might of look stupid so i change it into history of the internet.
i wire more on this later.
